What is the Background Check Process for Workers?

Modified on Thu, 14 Aug at 12:16 PM

Background checks are handled by our trusted third-party provider, Yardstik. Only workers who have passed and been approved through this process can view and accept shifts that require a background check.

How it works:
You can choose to require background checks for your shifts by enabling the background check requirement when creating your account. If you're not sure whether this setting is enabled, you can check by logging into your Bacon account, going to the Account button, followed by Shift Preferences, and confirming that "Require Background Checks By Default" is turned on.

Yardstick checks the following databases when running background checks for Bacon?

  • National Criminal Pointer Search

  • National Sex Offender Registry

  • OFAC & Most Wanted Lists

  • SSN Trace (AKA’s + Alias) & Address History

  • Global Watch List

  • Counties with Pointer Search Results

Note: Traffic-related offenses are only considered for roles that involve driving. Since Bacon does not currently offer driving-based shifts, these are generally not a factor.

Who can see and apply for shifts?

  • Shifts that require a background check: Only visible to workers who have passed and been approved.

  • Shifts that do not require a background check: Visible to all workers, including those who have not completed or did not pass a background check.
